Camperdown elm is an appealing, sturdy tree with branches that grow downward in an umbrella shape. This dwarf landscape tree grows in hardiness zones 4 through 8. Camperdown elm trees are susceptible to insect and disease infection, especially Dutch elm disease, through open wounds when the tree is actively growing from late spring through fall. That is why James is pruning the tree during the dormant winter months of March to reduce this risk and keep the tree healthy in the landscape.
