Pruning Photinia Red Robin. If you want to keep your Red Robin with a nice red breast all through the growing season then you need to carry out regular tip pruning. The bush won't flower or produce berries, but for me the flowers are not particularly interesting and the odour is very unpleasant so eliminating the production of flowers is quite a welcome thing. In exchange you will be rewarded with a glossy green shrub with a crown of red on every branch from spring right through until end of september.
