PRUSIK Ascent (Rig PRUSIK) (1) With one sling rope tie a rappel seat without the carabiner in the front. With the other 15” sling rope, tie a continuous loop with a joining knot(square knot with overhand safeties). This loop will need to be adjusted depending on the size of the person wearing the harness. (2) With the second sling rope, place it over the right shoulder so that the knot is in the back and the knot is on the right side of the body. Bring the rope around the back, creating a bight in the chest with the standing end and the running end. The running end is the bight going around the back. (3) Route the running end (bight) over the standing end bight and up through the loop created around the body. Continue the running end down and behind all three ropes from top to bottom of the rappel seat. (4) After feeding the running end through the rappel seat, feed the running end through the standing end bight. The locking carabiner will be placed through the running end bight and secured to the rope running vertical over the shoulder. (5) Both utility cords will be used for a middle of the rope Prusik, therefore, must have a double figure eight stabilizer. Determine how big the loop must be to fit around the 11mm static rope and form the Prusik knot. (6) The first utility rope will be for foot stirrups. The ends of the rope must have a fixed loop for the feet to go into. Use a bowline to form the fixed loops on both stirrups. After the fixed loops are tied, the loop for the Prusik knot should be about waist level. Finish typing the knot into the 11mm static rope. (7) The second utility cord will be secured to the chest harness. After forming the double figure-of-eight, tie the Prusik onto the 11mm static rope ABOVE the foot Prusik. To secure the tails of the chest Prusik to the locking carabiner, tie a Double-Double Figure-of-Eight: (a) Secure both ends and bend them, forming a doubled bight. (b) Using the bights as a running end, tie a double figure-of-eight knot with the four ropes. (8) The double figure-of-eight knot will be placed into the locking carabiner and the locking carabiner will be locked. (9) Place feet in the stirrups and you will be ready to climb.
