I really like the Cypress PSoC 5 family that I've been using for decode logic, signal generation, and other miscellaneous logic circuits in my 5-volt projects. Historically, I have used the CY8CKIT-059 prototype kit, with a socket on my PCBs. I'm working to remove the prototype kit from my designs, and directly place the PSoC IC on my PCBs. With this approach, I can use PSoCs from the 5 family beyond the one used on the prototype kit.
