Steven Bochco attempted a sitcom based in an NYPD squad-room. It featured Bill Brochtrup's character of John Irvin, so technically it was a spinoff of NYPD Blue. Additional cast members included Peter Gerety (who went on to play a cop on Homicide: Life on the Street) and Louis Ferreira (who went on to co-star in Stargate: Universe). The series was very famously cancelled after one episode... this is it.
