Here is a snowy oil well in Gladewater, Texas pumping with a Cabot pumping unit. These conventional pumping units are known to pump in extreme conditions without fail. I have seen these wells produce in the snow down to -7*F and all the way up to 115*F during the summer. Most of the time, the weather will affect the tank battery operations before the well site operations.
East Texas has seen its fair share of winter weather this year largely affecting separators, flowlines, and powerlines. The toughest part with operating wells is that they need attention 24 hours a day. It's not an 8 to 5 job with weekends, holidays, and sick days off.
