Quantum Imaging: from concept to implementation

CQT Online Talks – Series: Colloquium Speaker: Pieter Kok, The University of Sheffield Abstract: In this talk I will introduce the idea of quantum imaging as a multi-parameter estimation problem, which allows us to precisely benchmark its performance over conventional metrics like the Abbe or Rayleigh limit. I will show how we can achieve super-resolution in the imaging of distant classical objects by exploiting the greater flexibility of optical interferometers in tailoring the right observables that give us the maximum amount of information about the objects. I will conclude with some experimental results that demonstrate the practical viability of quantum imaging.
