Modeling Queue Basics presents the most common distributions in queuing models, the Poisson arrival distribution and exponential service distribution. It then covers Kendall’s notation, the standard method of describing a queue model, and covers some of the major queuing model assumptions. A foundation set, the equations which allow the assessment of queue performance and operating characteristics are presented and related back to the decision makers cost minimization decision.
