Quick and Easy Acrylic Abstract Painting Tutorial 🍑

Sorry my butt was in the way 🍑 Detailed instructions HERE! ⬇️ Step 1: Decide what kind of canvas you want to use. I like to use thinker canvases with texture for a piece I plan on hanging in my home or selling as an original piece of art. On the other hand, I love to use canvas boards. This is a cheaper route and you can frame these pieces. I like selling this type of piece as a print. In this video I’m going to show you how I create the more affordable acrylics Step 2: Plan out what you're going to paint. You can create a drawing on a piece of paper before you begin to get an idea of the shapes you want to create. A small sketch can go a long way. You can also simply jump in and start painting. Plan out the vibe and the colors you want to use for your abstract. Are you creating an ocean landscape abstract? Use a photo reference for inspiration. Step 3: Create your base layer. I recommend sticking with 3-5 colors to start and I try not to water my paints down right away. I think about creating the shapes I want to make within my painting. Angled brushes are great. ⚠️ AVOID BLENDING ALL THE COLORS TOGETHER ⚠️ This is a big mistake I would make while painting. I'd OVER BLEND the colors together and then it will just become ONE mixed sad shade of brown. DON'T DO THIS, unless it's on purpose! Step 4: Let your base layer dry, and come back in for another round. Try to lock in the shapes and look you want to create. And once this layer is dry, I love going crazy with mixed media. I add watercolors on top as a light layer that ads a POP of color. I will even use charcoal to add visual interest. Step 5: Frame that baby! Choosing a frame is very important because it really finishes off the look and feel of your abstract. Go to your local thrift store and find a cute frame that goes with your picture.
