I've seen a lot of people say it's not really worth it to attempt repairing 8-Track carts that have tape issues, especially if they become unspooled inside. I don't think that is good advice and I encourage all of you who collect these to buy a splicing block and some splicing tape and try it out! it's a good time waster and brain juice churner if nothing else and if you fail, you'll only be out 40$ or so!
