Randomly generated ambient with Digitakt + Digitone
This is kind of an experiment, so hopefully it's not too obscure or random. I learned this technique from YouTuber Aldo (tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLdldzRMIEc). Basically I am using the MIDI channels on the Digitakt to randomly mute and unmute tracks. If you watch carefully, you can see the tracks muting and unmuting as the song evolves. I am also using a lot of conditional trigs to make things even more random. It took a lot of tweaking with the % rate on the trigs to get to a point where things weren't too crazy. Some sounds have a higher % rate than others, so the randomness has at least a little bit of structure to it. The part at 2:24 I think turned out really cool. It happened totally at random, but definitely feels like it was intentional or scripted, but was not. Little things like that make this randomized nature really fun to play with. No two playthroughs are ever the same. Most of the samples I created with my guitars. I used a Fender P Bass and LTD M-10 running through a Strymon Big Sky reverb pedal, then into a Scarlet Solo paired with AmpliTube, then into the Digitakt. I also added the Digitone to add some nice synth sounds to the mix as well. The Digitakt is randomly muting/unmuting the 4 tracks on the Digitone as well. Lastly, I am using an LFO on almost everything to further give all the sounds some evolving or moving feel to them.
