Randwick Garbage - SL031 *Mitch*
In this upload we see "MitchellM15" behind the wheel of his now permanent truck SL031, picking up the small and large garbage bins throughout Randwick City Council five days a week. I managed to make the hour drive from Ryde to Randwick on a particular Wednesday late last year where I caught up with Mitch just starting his second and last load of the day just after 10am in the beach side suburb of Coggee, it was great to tag along with Mitch on his run and I hope you guys enjoy the vid as much as I did filming it. As you will see in the vid there are a number of streets that are parked out and areas that are not suitable for large waste collection vehicles like this one but the young gun operator manages to get the job done, check out 4:40 and 5:47 and you will know what I mean. The first clip of the video shows Mitch giving the thumbs up and turning into his first street and picking up the first bin for the second load after giving the arm a few test lift cycles. The Randwick Garbos do two full loads of garbage starting at 6am and finishing around the 12-1pm mark on a good day. SL31 is your typical Iveco Acco/MJ Gen V combination with a 22m body perfect for the garbage collections. There are a total of five full time garbage trucks in Randwick. This waste contract like Ryde was one of the original WSN residential contracts commencing a little later in 2008 and now SUEZ (SITA) Australia is the current contractor for Randwick Council Household Garbage and Recycling collections until 2018 I believe and council handles the green waste, trade and litter collections themselves as an in house operation. Mitch began in the Randwick contract with SITA as a floater driver doing any run but last year managed to score a permanent gig on the sidearms driving SL31 collecting garbage. Its a bit of a long upload this one for me 20 minutes in total, but I reckon its worth the watch as I included a number of angles to keep the action interesting. Theres no doubt you will be impressed with Mitch's operating scooping all the bins off the mark and dealing with those shitty little parked out streets like a pro operator not bad for a young bloke who has been driving the sidearms for only a couple of years. Being out in Randwick really opened up my eyes to see how good the Ryde drivers have got it, nearly every street is parked out and even though the runs look small on paper there can be shitloads of bins on one street in certain areas of the council. I must say it was nice to be back out on the runs with some loud and fast operating equipment. Thanks has to go to Mitch for letting me ride/tag along for the morning and telling me all the good video spots. Thanks to you guys for watching and remember to like, fav and sub. AussieGarbo67
