The Massachusetts DOC Recruit training Program is an enhanced twelve-week program that fosters an environment that cultivates a learning organization aligned with the agencies vision, mission and core values. The program provides a solid foundation of good correctional practices that supports a balanced system of conditions of confinement, successful reintegration and serves public safety. Recruits will continue their training and development as they partake in a structured Field Training Program at their respective institution. The goal of the program is to bridge the gap between the academy and the institution; ensure continuity of what is learned and implemented; create a relationship and culture between the Field Training Officer and the trainee; and support staff retention.
