Recursive Sequences in Hailstone Problems

Presenter: Charles Kulick, University of Scranton Abstract: We investigate connections between hailstone-type sequences that reach 1 and recursive formulas for the cardinality of associated sets. A surprising connection to the Fibonacci sequence is developed and a more generalized formula for translating between sequences and hailstone problems is presented.
