Proper sizing and installation of refrigerant piping can be crucial to a refrigeration system's effective and efficient operation.
In this session, Greg Scrivener, the lead refrigeration engineer with Laporte Consultants, will discuss the parameters that affect refrigerant pipe sizing for liquid, suction, and hot gas piping. Greg will also review common installation best practices, such as sloped piping, traps, branch piping, and fittings.
The presentation will mainly focus on typical synthetic refrigerant installations but also on situations where the refrigeration compressor oil is not miscible. Finally, Greg will review pipe material selection and introduce more complex piping design considerations, such as thermal expansion and pipe stress.
This presentation was part of our Refrigeration Technical Training Day on June 26.
