Refuting "once saved always saved"
Beware of "once saved always saved" false teaching that says that once someone decides to follow Jesus, that it is impossible for them to loose their salvation no matter what; even if they continue in wilful sin WITHOUT REPENTANCE. However the bible says: Hebrews 10:26-27 [26] For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, [27] but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. •Notice born again writer says "we" Hebrews 10:30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge *HIS* people.” Matthew 24:13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. Hebrews 10: 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. •Note there is a NEED for endurance to receive what is promised (which we cannot do in our own strength but relying on God, yet we need to endure- a choice we need to make) Romans 11:22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. Hebrews 6:4-8 [4] For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, [5] and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, [6] and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. [7] For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. [8] But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned. 1 Corinthians 9:27 [27] But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. • Even clearer, born again Paul now says "I myself". the word "disqualified" is also used in Hebrews 6:8 talking of land with its end to be burned. Matthew 10:28 (context of speaking with disciples) [28] And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:33 (context of speaking with disciples) [33] but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. 2 Timothy 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; •Note Paul says "we" including himself a born again believer Revelation 3:5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. Matthew 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. BALANCE Hebrews 6:9 Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation. Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. Be perfected in love, perfect love casts out all fear God is Faithful to complete good work He started Not about earning righteousness but keep trusting and keep walking in God's way if you sin, repent receive forgiveness and keep running, don't give up
