Reimagining Cyclops

In the days in which monsters stalked the earth and gods could be seen walking among mortals, there stood a particular giant, the Cyclops. Or in the world of Skirmish Turf where they're known as the Solgaze. While the thrall races are the ones that dominate today, the Cyclops remain. One of the last remaining creations of the gods to go virtually untouched after 10,000 years. While I go into much depth over the Cyclops in this video, I fail to mention anything about the anamatic in the beginning of the video, so I'll address it here in the description. Watch the video first before reading the following: The events depicted in the opening anamatic are from a great conflict in Skirmish Turf referred to in-universe as the World War of Armageddon, because for many, it was the end of the world. It takes place 40 years before the events of modern Skirmish Turf. The soldiers fighting in the anamatic are from the country of the Sun Republic in the early stages of war. The Sun Republic only joined the war due to a treaty with their ally, Vinla. While many assumed the war to be over quick, they were wrong. Vinla was destroyed quickly and the Sun Republic was vastly unprepared for the war they were fighting. Supply shortages were frequent and a lack of good anti armor options for the Sun Republic found itself to be a particular issue. This is extremely apparent in the anamtic, as even the strongest weapons struggle to bring down a single Solgaze. The Solgaze as a whole saw a massive resurgence in the dawn of a new millennium. For a while they were seemingly doomed to face the same fate as most megafauna, with their size and slow birth rates being used against them. Fate would decide otherwise though as the Solgaze would go from hunted to hunters, forming their own weapons to shoot back. The Solgaze would find the creation of armored vehicles pointless as they were already walking tanks. The Solgaze in the anamatic is wearing a M3 Super Suit, with improved armor and mobility from its predecessor. It would be the bane of the Sun Republic army, with many soldiers fleeing upon the mere sight of it. By the time the Sun Republic developed a reliable counter to it, the M4 Super Suit was created which made the Solgaze seemingly indestructible. The gun gauntlets were done to allow for a continuous rate of fire without having to reload. While weight and recoil would make them impracticable for a human, for the Solgaze, they proved invaluable. In modern day, most combat suits don't see them used due to their chunkiness, but certain roles and countries still use them. But case in point, they proved useful during the great conflict that shook the earth itself. Towards the end of the war, the Sun Republic had surrendered to avoid a total defeat. The Solgaze territories expanded at the expense of the Sun Republic. The veterans of the winners would return home as heroes in shinning armor, those who crushed the barbarians from the north that had done their kind so dirty long ago. Many Solgaze would start families after the war and would create the next generation of soldiers to defend the motherland where ever they were needed. Sun Republic veterans found their country in chaos. Riots broke out, factories were burned and politicians were hanged in the streets. The war had been a disaster that no one wanted, and now many would never see their fathers or sons return. Sweeping reforms would be made across the Sun Republic, with many new anti corruption policies put into place. The people saw the weakness of their government and needed it stamped out. The dust would settle. Despite heading into the direction of a crisis, the Sun Republic was able to come out stronger. As a society, the Sun Republic would see large improvements put into place. Better social services, better infrastructure and even a great military. In fact, the Sun Republic would see many gains from military action, even being able to get back at a few countries who wronged them. So whose to say they won't settle a certain grudge with some cyclops? But that's just one of many possibilities to come from the world of Skirmish Turf. The Solgaze are just one of many moving parts of this world I hope to create. For now, lets focus on the art of some more rough necked Cyclops who have chosen a particular career option.
