Relatability Does Not Matter.
#transformers #transformersone #megatron So recently I uploaded a video covering the best scene in Transformers One, and it kinda blew up. I got a ton of great comments, but one stood out to me. The crux of their argument was that Megatron wasn’t a relatable character. No shame of course, we had a civil disagreement that made me think of the topic a bit more. And upon reflection I’ve come to a conclusion: relatability doesn’t matter. Relatability is often viewed as a fundamental aspect of good character writing. Critics and audiences alike argue that characters should reflect the lives, struggles, or mindsets of viewers to create emotional resonance. Yet, this approach fundamentally misinterprets the nature of fictional characters.
