This is a guided meditation written by Ajahn Amaro, abbot of the Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. The meditation is designed to help you to gently let go of negative emotions, embracing them with kindness and compassion and allowing them to drift away rather than clinging to them. This ability (to lovingly experience and then gently release difficult emotions) has been called decentering within mindfulness-based therapies and defusion within Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and represents a powerful way to ease suffering.
