Reliability Design [Theory] - Based on Dynamic Programming
#DynamicProgramming #ReliabilityDesign The dynamic programming approach can be used to solve a problem with multiplicative constraints like Reliability Design Problem. Let us consider a multi stage system that is composed of several devices connected in series. But such system will not be reliable enough as if one of the devices connected in series malfunctions, and whole system will collapse or breakdown. The problem can be resolved if we duplicate the devices at each stage i.e. multiple copies of the same device type are connected in parallel at each individual stage through the use of switching circuits. If at any instance at any stage one of the device malfunctions, the other devices at the same stage connected in parallel will function properly which will increase reliability at each stage and hence resulting more reliable working system. In reliability design, we use device duplication to maximize reliability but restricted to the maximum allowable cost constraint of system. Through this video, get the detailed explanation of what Reliability Design is i.e. theory . Example problem will be discussed and solved in the next lecture.
