In 1986, I had the opportunity to meet and videotape one of the DMV's hottest groups, Starpoint. This video has footage I took of their Album Release Party and the concert the put on the next day at the Carter Baron Amphitheater in Washington, D.C. Lead by the late Renee Diggs and the late Ernesto McKenzie Phillips, the group included Kayode Adeyemo, George Phillips Jr., Gregory Phillips and Orlando Philips. They had several hits on the R&B Charts starting in 1980 on several of their albums. But it was their 1985 "Restless" album that put them on the world stage. With hits like "Object Of My Desire" which was their first Billboard Chart hit at #25, #12 on the Dance Charts and #8 on the Billboard R&B Charts. They hit the Charts again in 1986 with "Restless" and "He Wants My Body". Don't forget that this is 1986 so it's tape, not digital. Enjoy the memory.
