RenderedJustice
"Rendered Justice" is a faux trailer — a detective from the future that never existed, made by students who'd just learned how to fake one. This is the final project from my XR Studio Production class. The goal wasn't to make a film; it was to put every fundamental of virtual production on the same project at the same time and see what holds. Unreal Engine for the world-building, an LED volume for in-camera environments, lighting that has to match between virtual and physical sources, camera work that respects parallax and frustum, and an edit that pulls all of it together into something that reads as a real piece. Trailers are the perfect format for a class like this. Short. Genre-driven. They demand a few hero shots to be excellent and the rest to feel inevitable around them. Students get to make every kind of decision — story, world, light, lens, cut — at a scale they can actually finish. The students did the work. I built the runway. ABOUT ME I'm Joseph Maiocco — creative technologist, editor, and compositor at JFMIV.CO. I teach because I'm genuinely interested in what happens when you put real production tools in the hands of people who haven't yet learned what they're "supposed" to be afraid of.
