A reservoir model is a mathematical simulation which predicts the production performance of the field, and is used to formulate an optimum development plan and effectively manage the reservoir
- But it is only an Estimate not Reality
It contains data from geophysics, geology, petrophysics, geochemistry (PVT and fluid properties) and well testing
Results produced are production profiles based on different production schemes and reservoir scenarios– these are used to select the best scheme economically
The Reservoir Model is updated with new data, through time
Reservoir modelling techniques are also used in planning CCUS , pollution monitoring, groundwater management and others
