Review M5Stack V2 AI Cameras

I purchased my first M5Stack Unit V2 camera in 2021 and a more recent version in Nov 2023 was the Unit V2 with M12 lens. There is also another version without any lens or camera and it was meant to connect a USB camera. After reviewing the recamera I decided to take another look at Unit V2 cameras snd straight out of the box they are much easier to use compared to recamera. I find pairing recamera's wifi difficult to do and only use the USB with simulated ethernet. Unit V2 is a nice size for mounting onto Lego Technic models and robots such as EV3. A good combination is using M5Stack Core or Fire with BaseX, a Unit V2 and Lego EV2 or EV3 motors. But be careful with voltage compatibility. Lego EV3 and EV2 are 5V based systems while Unit V2 is a 3.3V system. UnitV2 has very good mounts to attach to Lego Technic components. The software is also better suited to robotics and includes line tracking in different colours. There is nothing like that on recamera. A nice feature about Unit V2 is that you can switch the software environment to Jupyter Notebook for incremental python development and I find this very handy. This should allow you to switch AI models for different contexts in the same program. I was also able to run about 80 OpenCV2 programs in Jupyter Notebook using the reference (Mastering OpenCV with Python ). Coupling Unit V2 camera with UIFlow works well as long as you select the correct model from Unit V2 web server. I do not recommend the Unit V2 without Lens as I coould ony find one USA camera that was compatible. It was not compatible with the cameras on my digital microscopes.
