REVO RUMBLE 2025
In mid-September, Humboldt County saw its first ever ‘Revo Rumble’, a grassroots freeride contest. Blind Lemon presented the riders with a $10,000 dollar cash purse, and supplied beverages at the pre and after parties. The event was hosted by our local Revolution Bicycles and the legendary In The Hills Gang. Revo Rumble was unique because it took place on a public trail built by the City of Arcata. We hope the success of this event will encourage the city to continue investing in our community trails, and bring light to a genre of riding not often seen in this area. Riders competed in an open jam format, where they got as many laps as they wanted before time ran out. Whip Off, Best Trick, and High Jump were judged by a five person panel made up of locals, including Red Bull Rampage veteran Jeff Herb. In classic Humboldt fashion, wet weather came the night before and morning of the event. Tarps kept most of the key sections dry enough to ride, but things would’ve been sketchy without some last minute blowtorching and trail love from the In The Hills Gang. With the jump taken care of and the riders thirsty for a ripping, it was time to start the show. Riders began to warm up and spectators filled spaces between the Redwoods. Once the competition started, over 60 riders were throwing down and the energy from the community was at an all time high. Most of our locals had never seen anything like this before - the crowd was going wild. The High Jump contest seemed to be a crowd favorite, as well as other huge moves such as a front flip to flat by Alejo Duran, who won best trick. Sideways whips were seen across the board, but Ian Austin came out on top with his nasty dipped style. High Jump was a very close competition among the top 5, and Jamie Cooper-Ellis won by only a centimeter. Women's best whip was won by Amelia Capuano. Once the grand finale train came through, everyone headed to nearby Redwood Park for the awards ceremony, afterparty, and the LARPing world championships. Blind Lemon provided drinks, live music was played by local pop-punk band 'Keeper', and amazing food was supplied by Papa Wheelies Pub. This was just a glimpse into our unique riding community here in Humboldt County. We believe this is just the beginning of something great and are looking forward to growing this event for years to come! Riders and crowd alike, thank you. Get ready for next year! This event was entirely volunteer run. Thanks to everyone that showed up to make this possible. Special thanks to Blind Lemon for providing the purse, the drinks, the party; Revolution Bicycles and In the Hills Gang for hosting; JT Woehler and Evan Mercure for coordinating; City of Arcata for providing a sick community jump trail; Sean Tetrault; Darius Damonte; Cole Barker; Luke Aronie; Trey Motely; Gina Bauer; and many more.
