Riding the Day

“Riding the Day” … a new County Western song written in response to a TV production request for source music. This song is simply about two people who are committed to each other and their horse-centric lives. They ride together, run a horse ranch, and clearly intend to stay together for the rest of their lives. Its lyrics track the typical world presented in so many episodic TV series that focus on the life of people in the western areas of North America. The song takes you through a typical day in their lives – the riding, their commitment to each other (and to horses), etc. ending in their satisfied life at home in the evening. The next day, they will again enjoy a similar life. Like their back story, the song is very stable and sweet, as requested for the production. The song is very much in a similar style to songs by Neal McCoy, Alabama, early Garth Brookes. MUSIC INSIGHTS: This is a simple verse/chorus song with a bridge. It is set at a medium tempo with a major key signature harmonic progression typical of positive, uplifting Country Western music. The main accompaniment comes from an acoustic guitar which occasionally provides a hint of Spanish guitar motifs. The lyrics stay within the musical genre and are basically telling the story of their day. The intention is to tell that story directly and with a rhyme scheme that emphasizes the stability of their life, their story.
