The relationship between right and left ventricular function following durable left ventricular assist device implantation is complicated, and finding the proper pump speed setting is often accomplished via ramp echocardiographic studies or clinical gestalt. In this talk, Dr. Michael "Mickey" Brener of Columbia University describes how his team has made use of invasive hemodynamics and right ventricular pressure-volume loops to better understand the interactions between the ventricles, and we discuss how this work could be translated into clinical application in the years to come.
