"Ringtone" is a country comedy song about a man who realizes his girlfriend is so married to her screen that she can't put it down long enough to notice the most important moment of their lives — until he gets a little creative. He's got a ring, he's got a plan, and if she won't look up from her phone, well... he knows exactly how to get her attention. We're all guilty of it — the constant checking, the reflexive scroll, the way a notification pulls you out of a room you're still physically sitting in. I wanted to write a song about what that costs — and what happens when someone decides to meet you right where you are. The ending on this one still makes me smile.
