RoboCo Thoughts & Modding | My RoboCo Experience & msg to the devs
Today I am showing off the game RoboCo, a crazy cool robotics game that's based on real-life mechanics. In this video, I talk about why this is my new favorite indie game, and how I modded it (cause that's what I do...) This game has mechanics I've never seen in sandbox building games before, and it uses them perfectly. Stuff like surface connections and rods where so fun to mess around with. The programming behind them was fluid and fast, exactly what you want for a physics-based game! The following is mostly for the devs ;) Like I say in the video, the community is one of the most important parts of game development. As players, we want to know what's coming next since that helps us form a stronger decision about the game, helping us answer questions such as: How stable is the development of the game? Do the devs even care what the community thinks? Is this game worth my money, will it continue updating? What is special about this game?. I think the way you are handling the community currently is perfect, keep it up! I guess ill give this one to James, the... "de facto community manager for the game". BeauPrime! I really enjoyed using your serialization library (BeauData), It took some time for me to understand how it worked so I could deserialize RobotData. Since il2cpp doesn't allow me to see the code, so I had no idea what could be serialized. It was pretty well written tho! Not exactly sure who made RuleScript although I believe BeauPrime & maybe Jonathan both worked on it, I didn't get time to use it but I did check how it works and the setup for it. It seems nearly perfect for level challenges, but I believe I could make rule tables in JSON and load it, which would be cool for modded levels/challenges. It's super flexible which is awesome! I didn't have time to look at all the other cool libraries such as BeauPool & BeauRoutine, since 1 week is way to short for me to understand years of programming xD. I can't wait to have access to the alpha launch, there's still so much that I wasn't able to check out! I am not a graphics/texture expert so my opinion on this should be taken lightly, although I think the game looks amazing. just don't quote me on it xD. Keep up the development of RoboCo I can't wait to see how the game progresses and develops. I'll say it again, If you guys want help/feedback on modding for the game. Msg me on discord @AnotherBot#8959. Not only do I think this is basically the perfect game to mod, but it's also really well made. (Plus ill do it for free cause content...)
