Watch this crew work on what's known as 'sand bailing' in the oilfield. This is a process in which a check valve is run on the bottom of the pipe into an oil well that has heaved sand. a stinger is used under the valve to stab into the sand and fill the pipe up and the check valve doesn't let what's caught fall out.
This video is when the crew is pulling the pipe out of the hole and have gotten to the last 3 stands on the very bottom. these contain the most junk found from down hole, including sand, oil, mud, salt water, and even has gas pressure behind it. the gas pressure makes it very dangerous as the sand busting out could hurt someone's eyes or even cut skin.
This crew is very experienced and knows how to handle this job the safest way possible.
