RTOC - Real Time Operations Centre

The Alberta RCMP RTOC is a unit that supports all frontline RCMP members with critical and unfolding events in order to promote public safety to our detachments and our frontline police officers. The Alberta RCMP RTOC is unique to the RCMP in that it is the only Real Time Operation Centre for the RCMP across the country. ATAK is our primary situational awareness software. We use this software in order to coordinate response for police officers across the province. This allows us to see where all police officers are, not only for the RCMP, but also specialized units within other municipal police agencies and we use this information to coordinate our response and ensure that members get the support that they need. RTOC helps protect officer safety through the coordination of resources. Our ability to manage critical and unfolding events, and provide and communicate with our support resources, things like ERT, PDS and Air Services, bringing in support resources to aid in the response to any particular event because we are able to support better decision making, which contributes to officer safety as well as public safety.
