Born November 30, 1949 in the city of Toledo (Ohio). Constance Henrietta Mierzwiak preferred to hide her real and not too harmonious name under pseudonyms. She began performing at the age of nine, singing Brenda Lee's songs, and the first stage name was Connie Little (the band “Connie & The Blu-Beats”). Then came the slurred projects The Downtowners and The Blue Grange Ramblers; as a member of the latter in 1969, the pseudonym Ruby Jones was born ... 2 years later, signs a contract with the Chicago label Curtom Records, owned by the famous Negro singer and composer Curtis Mayfield. The self-titled debut album, which Mayfield himself led, brought success and numerous tours. At one of these shows in Evansville, Indiana, vocalist Jim "Dandy" Mangrum, seeing Ruby, convinces her to join Black Oak Arkansas as backing vocalist, which happened in 1973. There appeared another name - Ruby Starr; and after leaving the team - new solo projects and records. She died in her native Toledo on January 14, 1995 at the age of 45 from lung cancer.
