Rush 132 Drill Grinder - Point Splitting Operation
In this video, Bill Freese shows the operation of point splitting on the Model 132 Drill Grinder. Point splitting is used to help center drills, is good for drills with heavy webs in the center, and can help with deep hole drilling to get chips out. In this case, Bill has a 100 degree chisel-edge angle on the drill, sets the zero-mark at 170, and tilts the head to 15 degrees. He uses a #4 cam, a clearance at 18, with no oscillation. The latch is set to index 11 and then index 5 when grinding. The grinding wheel shown is a plated CBN wheel, which is good for point splitting as well as regular point grinding. A wheel that is at about 6" in diameter works for almost all applications. ====================== Rush Machinery (800) 929-3070 +1 (585) 554-3070 www.RushMachinery.com ====================== Rush Machinery specializes in manufacturing, servicing, and marketing a line of production and support machinery for the cutting tool industry since 1983.
