There is a faster way to send objects around the world through the AWS network; transfer acceleration. Let's take a deep look at how it works.
SUMMARY:
- Enables faster transfer of files to and from Amazon S3 buckets (faster than over the public internet)
- Utilizes a network of edge locations which are available in strategic locations around the world
- The edge locations are part of the AWS Global Network, which is a high-speed, secure, and reliable network for AWS services
- Transfer Acceleration is particularly useful for transferring large files or for transferring files over long distances
- Can speed up content transfers by as much as 50-500%
- To use Transfer Acceleration, you simply enable it for the target
S3 bucket, and then access the bucket using a special endpoint URL that includes the keyword "accelerate"
