Saint Dragon arcade 1cc

A 1-credit clear of the arcade game Saint Dragon [stdragon], played with WolfMAME 0.284. Score: 11,035,000. Take flight as a bio-mechanical snaky dragon to fight through 6 stages with wildly fluctuating difficulty. Stage 4 is hell. Other parts of the game let you sleepwalk through them in a safespot. A stylish, frustrating, weird, and rewarding game. As with most of my playthroughs, no autofire was used. A couple of strategy notes below: Stage 1: This boss is surprisingly difficult - he loves to roam around the screen, so it's hard to get a fully consistent route. At first I took my favorite F (flame) weapon to the boss, with inconsistent results. Eventually realized the L (laser?) weapon does more damage as it pierces through the boss. So: Grab the L pickup, shoot him in the head repeatedly. Stage 2: Trivial with safespots! Stage 3: Move straight left at the start and hang out for a while. There's another safespot at the bottom left after getting the invincibility. The last boss has a VERY mean attack in his final form, so...keep the Flame shot, shoot two flame burts at each of his fire attacks to cancel them (fight fire with fire!), and wait until the boss times out. Stage 4: Difficulty peaks here! Lots going on, no clear cues to tell you where to go until it's too late, so some memorization and practice is needed. Final boss dies quickly if you point blank it properly. Stage 5: I do enjoy a Giant Enemy Battleship. Nice easy safespots at the beginning (all R then all D), and while you're scrolling left under the boss.Be very sure NOT to pick up the F weapon at the end, keep T going into the last stage. (This pickup follows you, so shoot it from the left then head right to point-blank) Stage 6: A quite hard stage, but gives out extra lives like candy. Final boss is very hard at max rank, but after you die a time or two (which you can afford at this point), it becomes quite doable.
