Urea, one of the most widespread fertilizers in the world. It has allowed farmers all over the world to utilize a product rich in nitrogen that allows the improvement of agricultural crops at a low cost and, as such, has supported the growth of all developing countries. Saipem contributes to this process with its in-house technology for its production. The Snamprogetti™ Urea technology is one of the leading technologies and shows off more than fifty years of history: over 40 plants were directly built and 137 licenses granted contributing to about 1/3 of the urea production worldwide. In this context, Saipem also holds specific proprietary solutions such as the Tuttle Prilling Bucket consisting of high-tech manufacturing baskets that allow the crystallisation of liquid urea to form spherical grains ("prills") for direct use in agricultural fertilization.
