Scary Worm Snake
Hey Guys! Welcome to Jackie’s Southern Soul 2.0! Well we found our first snake of the season right in our very own backyard. I was out back getting rid of some old wooden logs and found him hiding under one of them. Luckily it was a non venomous snake and I was even more lucky that he didn’t bite me. Worm snakes (both Eastern and Western species) are completely non-venomous and harmless to humans. These small, fossorial (burrowing) reptiles are often found in moist woodlands or under debris in the eastern and central U.S. They do not bite when handled, and they lack the venom needed to harm people or pets. Diet: They eat earthworms and soft-bodied invertebrates. Defense: When threatened, they release a foul-smelling musk and may push with their tail, but they are not dangerous. Appearance: They look similar to earthworms, with brown, smooth scales and a pinkish, pale belly. Size: They are small, usually measuring 6–12 inches in length. Even though they are harmless to humans and pets I still don’t like them and don’t ever wish to run up on one again. I hope you found this video entertaining.
