School holiday program activity - Newspaper Forts

Leanne shows you how to create a play fort out of newspapers in this school holiday activity idea. Roll up tubes of newspapers to build a fort or cubby house. It's an engineering activity for some old-fashioned fun. For this activity you will need: Newspapers - approximately 50 to 100 double pages/sheets Masking tape or sticky tape A stapler (optional) Step 1: Roll the newspaper into tight tubes - approx. 45 tubes Step 2: Create triangles using 3 tubes each - approx. 15 triangles Step 3: Tape the triangles together to build a fort or cubby house Step 4: Add sheets, blankets and cushions to make it cosy and comfortable. Now you have a fun place to read or play! If you don't have newspapers, try using cardboard boxes to build a cubby, use brooms/mops to create a teepee, or drape a sheet over your kitchen table to create a cosy space.
