Before going onboard seafarer undergo a lot of training one of this is Basic Training.
This training is intended to ensure that seafarers are aware of the hazards of working on a vessel and can respond appropriately in an emergency.
Seafarers must be trained or certified* as competent or otherwise qualified to perform their duties in accordance with flag State requirements. Seafarers must have successfully completed training for personal safety on board ship.
