Some music historians say the ’70s arrival of Afro-Caribbean workers constructing the famed canal is Spanish music’s primary introduction of the now-essential dembow riddim. Born and raised in the country’s capital, Sech knows it’s important to properly rep the region...and he has. Massive hits such as “Relacion,” “PORFA,” and “Ignorantes” have featured the 27-year-old spitter, he and Bad Bunny even performed the latter on Jimmy Fallon. Though currently working at an impressive album-a-year pace, Sech found time to hit our Brooklyn studio for live takes of tracks off his latest album, ‘42.’ The title is a tribute to the trailblazing baseball legend Jackie Robinson. “Wao” and “¿Qué Somos?” have plenty of bounce.
