Nouman Ali Khan - Official - Bayyinah ๐ *ARABIC GRAMMAR COURSE - SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION TO GRAMMAR* ๐ฏ *CHAPTER 2 - PART 6: JAR MAJROOR (ุงููุฌูุงุฑู ููุงููู ูุฌูุฑูููุฑ) | FRAGMENTS IN ARABIC* Welcome back to our Arabic Grammar series! In this sixth part of Chapter 2, we are taking a deeper dive into the concept of **Jar Majroor (ุงูุฌุงุฑ ูุงูู ุฌุฑู)** . This lesson is based on the concept of "Status in Action" and understanding how words interact within a fragment. ๐ *WHAT IS A FRAGMENT?* In Arabic, a fragment (ู ูุฑููููุจูุฉู ููุงููุตูุฉ) is a structure that is: โ Less than a complete sentence. โ More than a single word. โ Words within a fragment have grammatical relationships with each other. There are five basic fragments in Arabic. In this lesson, we focus on the first three: 1. **ุงููุฌูุงุฒู ููุงููู ูุฌูุฑูููุฒ** (The Preposition and the Noun in the Genitive Case) 2. **ุญูุฑููู ุงููููุตูุจู ููุงุณูู ูููุง** (The Nasb Particle and its Noun) 3. **ุงูุฅุถุงููุฉ** (The Construct Phrase / Possession) ๐ *DETAILED FOCUS: JAR MAJROOR (ุงูุฌุงุฑ ูุงูู ุฌุฑู)* This specific fragment is made up of two parts: 1. **The Harf e Jar (ุญุฑู ุงูุฌุฑ):** The particle that causes the effect. 2. **The Majroor (ุงูู ุฌุฑูุฑ):** The noun that comes after it, which takes the Genitive (Jar) status. ๐ *THE GOLDEN RULES:* โข A Harf e Jar can only affect an **Ism (noun)** , not a verb (Fi'l) or a particle (Harf). โข Nothing can come between the **Jar** (preposition) and the **Majroor** (the noun it governs). ๐ *THE 17 PREPOSITIONS (ุญุฑูู ุฌุงุฑู)* According to the PDF, the prepositions in Arabic are seventeen in number. They are divided into two categories: *1. THOSE THAT ATTACH DIRECTLY (Top Row Letters):* These single letters attach directly to the following word. โข **ุจูู (Bi)** - With โข **ููู (Li)** - For (possession) โข **ููู (Ka)** - Like (comparison) โข **ุชูู (Ta)** - I swear (by Allah only) โข **ูู (Wa)** - I swear (by...) *2. DETACHED PREPOSITIONS (Standalone Words):* โข **ู ููู (Min)** - From โข **ุฅูููู (Ila)** - To/Towards โข **ุนููู (An)** - About/Away from โข **ุนูููู (Ala)** - On/Upon/Against โข **ููู (Fee)** - In โข **ุญูุชููู (Hatta)** - Until โข **ู ูุฐู (Munzu)** - Since/For โข **ู ูููุฐู (Munzu)** - Since/For โข **ุฎููุง (Khala)** - Except โข **ุญูุงุดูุง (Hasha)** - Except โข **ุนูุฏูุง (Ada)** - Except โข **ููุนูููู (La'alla)** - Maybe (Note: Usually functions as Inna but can have Jar meaning) โ ๏ธ *SPECIAL NOTE:* The PDF mentions that the preposition **ููู (Li)** usually takes a Kasrah, but it takes a **Fatha** when it comes before all attached pronouns, except for the pronoun "Ya" (ุงู). ๐ *EXAMPLES FROM THE LESSON:* The PDF provides the following examples of Jar Majroor fragments: 1. ุนูููู ุงูุนูุณูุฑู (Upon difficulty) 2. ุญูุชููู ู ูุทูููุนู ุงูููุฌูุฑ (Until the rising of dawn) 3. ุจูุญูุฌูุงุฑูุฉู ู ููู ุณูุฌูููู (With stones of baked clay) 4. ููุนูุตููู (Like the straw/stubble) 5. ููููููู ููู ูุฒูุฉ (For every slanderer) ๐ *DRILL SECTION:* Try to identify the Jar (Preposition) and the Majroor (Noun in Genitive) in the examples above! ๐ *COURSE PROGRESSION:* This is Part 6 of Chapter 2. Make sure you have watched the previous parts to fully understand the concept of Status (I'rab). โ Part 1: Introduction to Harf e Jar โ Part 2: [Previous Topic] โณ Part 6: Jar Majroor Fragments (You are here) ๐ *SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE* If this lesson helped you, please LIKE, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE for more detailed Arabic grammar lessons.
