While I was making a video for my brother-in-law, something opened in me.
I saw old photos, heard the music, and suddenly I wasn’t just looking at the years that had passed. I could see through them.
I remembered him younger — full of spark, life, expression — and I realised that part of him hadn’t disappeared. It was still there, underneath the layers life had placed over him.
It wasn’t sadness.
It was openness.
A beautiful reminder that we don’t really lose who we are… sometimes we just lose sight of it.
And sometimes, when we pause long enough, we can see the soul still shining underneath.
Next time you look at someone you know well, pause for a moment and ask:
What am I seeing through the layers?
