Segment Reporting Disclosures

When making disclosures about operating segments, a company should report: (1) segment revenues (including the percentage of revenues that come from external customers (2) segment profit or loss (this could be EBITDA, EBIT, EBT - whichever measure of profit is reviewed by the company's chief operating decision maker (3) segment assets (4) depreciation and amortization expense (companies aren't required to disclose segment cash flows, so depreciation and amortization disclosures help you make adjustments to estimate a segment's operating cash flow) (5) capital expenditures for each segment (6) a reconciliation of the segment results to the company's consolidated results (7) a description of how segment profit (or loss) was calculated (8) a statement if one of the segments has a customer that accounts for at least 10% of consolidated revenues— Edspira is the creation of Michael McLaughlin, an award-winning professor who went from teenage homelessness to a PhD.
