Self control

I think people often talk about self control in a very negative light, like a burden to be borne that you have to do-but I think it's not talked about enough as a labour of love towards yourself, which I think is one kind of love that's always with you, because you're always gonna be with yourself. I guess I say it in the song, you and I aren't ever gonna get far away. Well I think that, like with many things, Fiona Apple said it first-I am the woman who wants you to win:) The phrase at the end-hope is a long leash drawn in slowly-is taken from one of my favourite poems, After Prague by Wendy Cope. I remember the first time I ever read it it totally stopped me in my tracks, and I have a copy of it on my wall right now-when I film these, it's on the wall behind the laptop filming.
