Self-Determination Program: Understanding Budgets and Spending Plans
The Self-Determination Program (SDP) offers regional center clients and their families more freedom, flexibility, and control to design services around their goals, interests, and needs. After completing a person-centered plan, the next big step is turning that vision into a realistic, usable budget and spending plan – and that’s where many families have questions. Please join Kristianna Moralls, Executive Director of the Self-Determination Institute for a practical, easy-to-understand overview of how to create an SDP budget and spending plan. Kristianna will cover: – How an individual budget is determined and what factors influence it – The difference between the budget and the spending plan – and why both matter – How to align the budget with the spending plan with the person-centered goals/outcomes – How to work effectively with a Financial Management Service (FMS) (mandatory) and an Independent Facilitator (optional) – Tips for designing a spending plan that is flexible, realistic, and sustainable This webinar may be valuable for individuals and families currently navigating SDP, new participants preparing to create their first spending plan, and anyone who wants to better understand how budgeting works in the SDP.
