Self feed silage and split block calving

This week I'm with Andy Thornhill in Cheshire talking about his 75% autumn, 25% spring block calving 450 cow herd and the self feed silage clamp. He has been operating the self feed system for 4 or 5 years now, learnt a few lessons and refined the process to become super efficient for labour and machinery through winter. I feel lucky to have met Andy through my work as a consultant, any of us are fortunate if we get to meet people who make our own lives so much better.
