Semiconductor Analysis: Large Signal Diode Circuits
In this video I develop an approach to large signal analysis for circuits containing a diode. This approach is valid when the input signal is of a frequency low enough to ignore reactive components. I describe what a transfer characteristic is and then demonstrate the analysis necessary to develop the voltage transfer characteristic for a half-wave rectifier circuit. I then use the voltage transfer characteristic to plot the output of the rectifier given a sinusoidal input. 00:00 Introduction 00:38 What is a Transfer Characteristic? 01:17 What Analysis is Necessary? 02:12 Input Waveform 02:43 Find Diode Voltage (Reverse) 03:36 Find the reverse region borders 05:27 Find the Output in Terms of Input (Reverse) 06:17 Find the Output in Terms of Input (Forward) 07:03 Find the Output in Terms of Input (Breakdown) 07:45 Using the Transfer Characteristic 08:49 Final Thoughts Related Playlists: AC Analysis of Diode Circuits: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMJSA4-Gvmc2pNYnKqYIoExUcv2evfvrZ DC Analysis of Diode Circuits: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMJSA4-Gvmc2aYLnl_m2RIyOnMCvfgfTA Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEwZFySNL8Ql5YCIaIQ5kMQ
