Photographic prints on Tengucho paper, encaustic and mixed media, hand-bound with painted wood base
What happens when the last tree falls? Will we survive long enough to witness it? Separated Forest speaks to the endangerment of the natural world born of human excess.
Ghostlike black-and-white photographs of sea, forest, and sky are printed on whisper-thin Tengucho paper—delicate enough to tremble at the slightest movement. Each image is layered between blank sheets, a fragile gesture of protection, or perhaps mourning. The book holds both memory and absence, a meditation on what we stand to lose and what remains when the canopy is gone.
