In this video, we explore the ID Generator in BIM-Pars; a specialized tool designed to create and assign unique identifiers to your Revit elements using 10 different customizable logic methods.
Whether you need simple sequential numbering or complex randomized strings, the ID Generator automates the process across any target parameter.
You’ll learn how to use the various generation methods:
🔹 Sequential Counting: Generate IDs based on selection count (starting from 0 or 1).
🔹 Element ID Combination: Prefix or suffix the actual Revit Element ID with counts or separators.
🔹 Mathematical Operations: Use math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) on the element's integer ID to create new values.
🔹 Randomization: Generate unique random integers (3–16 digits) or random strings (2–16 characters) to act as secure, unique identifiers.
🔹 Hybrid IDs: Combine random strings or integers with existing Element IDs for high-security identification.
Every operation is tracked in the Report Tab, showing you the generation method used, the previous parameter value, and the newly generated ID for a complete audit trail.
