Today’s hybrid chisels make it easier to get full width shatter at shallower depths. Many disc rippers are designed to be followed by horizontal tillage to ensure a good seedbed. To correctly make a primary vertical fall pass with disc rippers, it takes depth and horsepower. No matter what the primary tool, we first need achieve full width shatter, then adjust front disc to get residue flow and cover that we want. Lastly set our levels to leave a somewhat level surface. Our goal is to be at three inch or less peaks and valleys after it over winters.
